For ten years C2C Event Solutions has been working with the annual Calgary Stampede parade, designing and entering floats. The "Bring On The Adventure" parade float designed for Scouts Canada in 2005 made the front page of the Calgary Herald newspaper, is used as an example in the Calgary Stampede's parade manual, and won major awards in every other parade it was entered in for that year. It still continues to win awards. Through this experience, we realized the tremendous promotional and marketing value provided by parades.
C2C also discovered that there is a great deal of logistical work associated with designing, building and entering floats in parades, and there are no individuals or companies presently specializing in this work. Event management and marketing companies rarely handle parades; they specialize in other venues, such as exhibitions, conferences and festivals. And although there are hundreds of parades held in Canada every year, they are generally organized by non-profit, volunteer-run groups which cannot provide support service to parade entries.
